Reed & Mackay, a Navan company, is empowering travellers to make sustainable choices without compromising travel experience or budget. Reed & Mackay’s clients can now see enhanced CO2 data for air, rail, car hire and hotel, within the global TMC’s proprietary online booking platform, R&M/Book.
Reed & Mackay announced its partnership with SQUAKE earlier this year to deliver enhanced CO2 data to the premium travel management company’s client base. The first in a series of sustainability focused enhancements set to land over the coming months, this latest release provides more informed choice, with carbon calculations within Reed & Mackay’s online booking platform now factoring in number of passengers, aircraft model, booking class and more.
Fred Stratford, Reed & Mackay’s Global CEO, said, “As companies look to balance achieving their ESG targets with the need to stay connected to the international business community through in-person meetings, they are increasingly turning to their travel and events partners to empower their travellers to make informed choices with the latest CO2 intelligence. At the same time, they also want to be able to balance sustainability goals with cost management and traveller productivity. That is what we’re enabling clients to do at Reed & Mackay”.
The enhancement presents the relative carbon position of a flight compared to other flights that day — alongside clear policy markers — and also enables users to sort results by cost, preference and now carbon emissions.
Fahim Khan, Global Director of Product, Reed & Mackay, said: “This is a new chapter for our in-product sustainability offering, designed in partnership with clients to help them meet their ESG targets. By leveraging SQUAKE’s data, we go beyond the generic calculations that are currently the norm in the market, which means deeper information and ultimately more informed choices for clients as they work to manage Scope 3 emissions in support of their wider ESG goals.”
Philipp von Lamezan, CEO & co-founder, SQUAKE, commented on the partnership: “Reed & Mackay is a leading name in travel, and with their prestigious client base increasingly looking for next-level support to manage their travel-related emissions, we knew our solution would add a crucial new component to Reed & Mackay’s R&M/Book system. We are so proud to have worked with Reed & Mackay on this development and we look forward to seeing the many ways in which their clients benefit from this powerful new feature.”
In the last two years, Reed & Mackay has become a United Nations Global Compact participant; become the first corporate travel management company with parent company Navan to partner with Neste for sustainable aviation biofuels; and committed to setting near- and long-term company-wide emission reduction targets in line with climate science with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In April 2023, EcoVadis, the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, reaffirmed Reed & Mackay’s Gold rating, which puts the company in the 94th percentile among its industry peers.
